Images

There are two main ways to add an image. Either using an image item, or inserting directly into the content editor. These are treated differently by the Content Styler.

Optimise images

It can be a good idea to optimise images... Note about how changing widht/height within Blackboard doesn't reduce the file size?

Image item

An image item will keep it's set width and height, but will resize responsively on smaller screen sizes. The item title will be removed automatically (i.e. it does not require the "No heading" link? modifier.)

If an image item contains a description it will reformat the image as a figure, keeping it at its original size, and use the description as a caption.

Image in the content editor

Images inserted using the content editor will not be altered. To add a figure caption to this type of image, you can type it underneath the image you will need to modify the HTML code directly.

Add note about alt text for accessibility??

Banners

add info about banners to this article or make a separate article?

Content Banners

"An inline banner can be added to the page by inserting an Image item from the Build Content menu and setting its name to banner. The image will be inserted in order and will be expanded to the edge of the page.

When creating an image item, you can also add a description. This description will be used as a caption and inserted under the bottom-right corner of the banner."

Inline banners can be used to separate areas or provide a creative break in the content. They should be used sparingly so as not to detract from the flow of content.
