Impact Site Reports (formerly Eesysoft)

What can they tell you?

Impact Site Reports are generated from clicks on specifically monitored items or tools in your learning sites.  In the Key Figures table, Enrolled Students include those who have enrolled and withdrawn, so this figure may be higher than what you see in the Grade Centre.

Note: only those content items within the template are monitored.  You may not see accurate student activity if you are not using the template.  Use the Content Menu Items section under Tool Group to provide you with the best idea of student activity.  If you use Mediasite videos, this will be displayed within the Content section or directly by selecting Watch Mediasite Video.

The tools/items that are monitored will display in your User Activity list. You will need to scroll down the screen to view this.

What appears in User Activity will change depending on your selection when viewing the Tool Group area. Click the + to expand tool areas.  In the previous version, all columns under User Activity were sortable - in this version, sorting is not possible. A request has been logged with Impact for this to be fixed.  When this is fixed, double-click each column to shift ascending to descending and group students together by activity or last access.

We recommend starting by using the following settings:

  • Start Date - two weeks prior to session commencement
  • Presentation - Actual Numbers

Download your User Activity list using the csv icon downloadThis can be opened in an Excel spreadsheet.

What does the Fixed % and Scaled % mean?

Fixed % (the default in the reports): This percentage looks at the number of active students that have logged in to Blackboard in the chosen time period and from those students who have clicked on the tool or item during that same time. When you look at Fixed % data in the graph, the y-axis is fixed starting at 0% and ending at 100%. This gives you a better overall view when you look at highly used tools or items or want to compare multiple tools or items.

But the scaled presentation is usually more useful for tools or items with low usage.

Scaled %: The scaled presentation only influences the presentation of the graph. The percentages that you find in the selected tools or items are calculated the same as in the Fixed % view. However, when you use the scaled %, the graph will zoom into the data, taking your usage peaks into consideration. This presentation is great for tools or items with low usage.

Making Sense of the Reports

Whatever you select in the Tool Group area will appear in the User Activity Table.  Make sure you set the Start and End Dates!
