D365 - Personalisation Font Settings
[ 1 About D365 ] [ 2 Emails ] [ 3 Queues ] [ 4 Personalisation ]
By Default, the Dynamics 365 font for Emails, Email templates and Notes has been set to Arial size 10.
If your business unit needs to use an alternative font, you can still access this using the Personalisation settings
If your Default Font is not displaying as Arial 10, this is because your personalisation settings have been previously set to an alternative preferred font.
Please note - Any already existing templates you drop into an email will keep their original font. To change the font permanently, you will need to create a new template or change the font manually each time you use it.
How to reset your personalisation settings (takes less than 1 minute):
Please follow the steps below if you would like to change your default font.
Step 1: Navigate to a Note via a Contact record
Step 2: Within the Notes field, click the ellipsis (3 dots) within the Notes body.
Step 3: After clicking the ellipsis, you will see the cog
Step 4: Select the Font Family you would like as your Default, then click Save
Once you have clicked Save, your preferred Font is set for all NEW Emails, Email Templates, and Notes.

Additional Background Information:
Microsoft are deprecating the Rich Text Editor (RTE) and have replaced it with the Modern Text Editor (MTE). Please see below for details on the differences.
Feature | Benefit | NEW - Modern Text Editor | OLD - Rich Text Editor |

Formatting Options | Reduced complexity, easier to maintain standard formatting | Streamlined (bold, italic, bullets, hyperlinks) | Extensive (fonts, colours, tables, images) |
Media Embedding (Images/Videos) | Simplifies content to improve compatibility and load times | Supports image embedding only (no video or script HTML) | Full support for embedded images, videos, and HTML |
Integration with Power Platform | Easier to build automations and apps using modern tools | Designed for seamless integration | Limited compatibility with Power Apps & Flows |
Device Compatibility/ Responsiveness | Improved usability across desktops, tablets, and phones | Fully responsive & mobile friendly | Basic with limited mobile support |
Support and security | Reduced risk and improved supportability | Actively supported by Microsoft | Deprecated – no future updates |
The Rich Text Editor has been removed from service by Microsoft entirely. April 30, 2025. This change is part of a global rollout of the NEW Modern Text Editor on D365 by Microsoft.
Microsoft’s latest update:
- The Rich Text Editor (RTE) allowed embedding images, videos, and more advanced HTML content directly into the editor.
- The Modern Text Editor (MTE) still supports image embedding, but embedding media like videos or complex HTML (e.g., iframes, tables with styling, scripts) is restricted or not supported to align with modern performance, accessibility, and security standards.
